Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the administration and management of Microsoft Windows servers (VM or physicals) in enterprise class environment.
- Responsible for building, maintaining and deploying a standard image library of server Windows operating systems.
- Responsible for managing hardware life cycles.
- Responsible for patching Windows and deploying applications via application deployment tool.
- Responsible for monitoring operating system performance and developing capacity planning and load management.
- Documenting required configuration changes and submitting changes through change management process.
- Work with the VMWare/Systems/Windows Architect to design, test and deploy of all hardware.
- Work with the VMWare/Systems/Windows Architects to plan, implement and maintain Active Directory structure, VMWare Infrastructure, and domain administration.
- Responsible for emergency response as needed to correct system failures by participating in an on-call rotation if necessary.
Related Experience:
- Minimum 5 years Windows Server administration experience.
- Minimum 3 years virtualization experience with VMWare.
- Minimum 2 years datacenter operations experience.
- MSCE certification required. MCITP certification desired. VCP 4 certification desired.
Knowledge / Skill / Ability:
- Experienced in Windows server 2000, 2003, 2008 and 2008 R2 operating systems.
- Experienced with virtualization platforms especially VMware vSphere 4.x.
- Experience with scripting such as VBscript, Powershell, etc.
- Experience with monitoring and management tools like Microsoft SCOM/SMS/SCCM.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to interact professionally.
- Demonstrated success with administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage time with regards to completing projects and other deliverables.
- Ability to work productively in teams; experience prioritizing tasks.
- Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
