Senior Information Security Engineer

Job Description

A successful candidate for the Senior Information Security Engineer position will have a strong technical background in Information Security. The candidate will understand network security architecture, and have a focus in application security, network security, or OS security. A firm knowledge of various operating systems including Unix/Linux is important. The position will be required to perform various duties, including security assessments of networks, servers, and applications. The candidate must also have proven experience in leading and managing small technical teams.

In addition to the technical background, the candidate should have experience and a solid understanding of federal Certification and Accreditation (C&A), NIST 800 Series guidelines, Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) and the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). A primary focus of this experience should be in Security Testing and Evaluation (ST&E), as this position will be required to lead ST&E engagements on a variety of systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage small projects, often with several team members
Ability to interact with technical and managerial clients
Perform Security Test and Evaluations of major applications and general support systems for federal clients
Technical, Managerial and Operational control analysis
Perform Security Categorizations
Perform Risk Assessments
Develop and/or modify System Security Plans, Plan of Actions & Milestones, as well as other supporting C&A documentation.

Education / Experience Requirements:
BS or BA (preferred in Computer Science, Business Information Technology or Information Security Assurance)
Relevant C&A Experience
Experience with Information Security (Network, Application, OS, etc)
Experience with penetration testing tools and/or network/application Vulnerability Assessments
Knowledge of NIST SP 800 series and FIPS documents
Familiarity with multiple “flavors” of Unix and Windows
CISSP or CISA certification strongly preferred.
Other IA or Linux/Unix certifications beneficial.
