Welding Engineer
Job Description
To develop, maintain, analyze and assist in all traditional Welding Manufacturing Engineering activities, such as processing new components, cost reduction programs, layout improvements, new process justification and installations. Utilize skills necessary to serve as a team leader or participant in a team environment. $55-75K
Responsibilities:
- Establish methods and standards for new/changed parts.
- Analyze, document, investigate and implement corrections for process failures; and initiate and implement cost reduction teams.
- Provide leadership and work with other functions to help the plant meet goals in safety, quality, ISO, schedule performance, inventory and cost, and participate in a team environment. Other duties may include the need to establish economical manufacturing routings for a wide range of ferrous materials including castings and weldments.
- Develop and implement capital projects to improve work floor and reduce costs. May develop the justification for new capital equipment and manage the installation and startup of the new equipment.
- Provide support and participate in new product launch teams.
- Select correct tooling for new processes.
- Provide production support in areas of safety, quality, throughput improvement, line balancing, engineering problems, inventory and cost.
- Must have good communication skills and computer skills.
- Provide weld training and testing per welding standards
- Responsible for working with programmers to support 13 robots.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Welding Technology, Engineering or 4+ years equivalent experience
- 4+ years in manufacturing related engineering
- 2+ years robotics programming experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with Cloos, or Fanuc robots
- Lean Manufacturing Experience.
- CWI Certification
